Ashley13, if you have a normal flow, I would not recommend a super tampon. That should be used for heavier times. Consider a regular size, that should work just fine for normal flow.Healthcare experts warn of using too absorbent a tampon because of risks of toxic shock.UBK mom

@puppylove1928, unknown things are often scary. But once you have your period, you'll get used to it in no time. You'll be just fine!

@Lara95, Normal is a hard word to define. I'm often irregular with my periods and sometimes have shorter or longer ones. But if it's unusual for you, then consider making an appt. with your healthcare provider.

You can go pee wearing your tampon. Urine comes out of a different hole than you bleed. Though your string can get wet so just be careful.

@Alyssa, if you use the right absorbency for your flow and insert them correctly, they should work well! But different things work better for different people, so try 'em out and see if they work for you.

Jessie97, I know it can be so intimidating looking at a tampon the first time. If you start wtih the light tampon and you have adequate flow, that helps. Try looking at this video (Education page) if you are not ready, dont rush it. There are alot of cool pads too.(UBK Mom )

Janie, I'm not really sure, but I can ask. Start with the lightest absorbancy and work up to find the right fit for you and your flow. See our other great information about tampons and finding the right size.

I LOVE Kotex tampons! When I first started my Monthly, I only used Kotex pads, because my friend used Always and it ALWAYS leaked! Then my mom bought me some regular U by Kotex tampons, and I fell in love with them. I can easily fit 2 or 3 in my purse or a pocket on my Monthly!

These are truly the only brand of tampons I use anymore. I am 24 years old and the other brands that I used to use were always uncomfortable, or they would always be too "big". I love that the packages are discreet and small.

JennaMarie143, Another key to comfort is to make sure that you insert the tampon far enough into the vagina that you don't really notice it. Sometimes it feel uncomfortable when it is too close to the vaginal opening. Be sure to watch our tampon video, too!

  •
  • Sandy Knauf, NP 21 days ago
JennaMarie143, Glad you are trying again! Sometimes if you try on a day when you have heavier flow, it can help until you get positioning right and have a few times where insertion goes well and you are able to relax!

the tampons i got seemed defective in some way. I had multiple tampons i had to throw out because the the tampon was pushed out of the applicator and wouldn't insert properly. the 'click' mechanism also doesn't seem to lock properly and would come all the way out
