@pinkfriday and ema, I think that more than anything the first tampon use is awkward, but it really can be painless! Pain often comes from putting in at the wrong angle or not spreading the vaginal tissues open and getting pinched. Go slow, relax, use a "light" and should go well

Hi pinkfriday - It took my daughter several months before she was able to comfortably use a tampon. Take your time and just think about practicing at first. Pick a time when you're not stressed and can relax. There's no rush to use tampons, so take your time.

Glimmer Girl - The U by Kotex Heavy Flow pads are longer and have a MicroMax core to lock in fluid. These things help control the dreaded leaking.

@pinkfriday, yes if it's your first time using a tampon, then yes it will hurt. Unless you tried a tampon before then it's probably the applicater itself.

Sparkle, so glad to help. I was embarrassed a lot to tell my mom when I was younger. When I wanted tampons, I showed her an ad to bring up the subject, then could talk about it. You could also ask her a question, like has she noticed staining on your undies or sheets. UbK Health

Sandy Knauf, emmyjj, and Lillie11 thanks for the help! It is the biggest pain to have to get up again and again to change my pad. Can't wait to try em! Just one more thing, how should I tell my mom that I need some Over Night Pads? I really don't know how to approach her with it.

sparkle, I hate when that happens! Emmyjj is right, us our nighttime pads because they are longer and will protect in the back. Wear some good-fitting underwear so the pad stays close to your body, too! UbK Health Expert

Equestian, I'm 40, but on the petite side and have to admit that I've worn the tween pads with success! They are made just a little smaller, but if the "regular" sizes are uncomfortable, they are certainly worth the try!! UbK Health Expert

Equestrian Girl, I am 13 years old getting to turn 14 in March, and I love these pads. They catch all leaks and are great. They are thin but absorb like the heavy flow pad. Pretty much just a smaller version of the Heavy Flows. They are super!

@Tutie Fruity11 Check it every 2 or so hours for the first day or two and change it when it feels wet and the blood covers most of the pad. after the first day or two you will know how often. Its really no big deal so don't stress it. best of luck! :)
